The Government of India, via the online platform ICCR, has declared 1,000 ICCR scholarships for Afghan students to undertake undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs at Indian universities. The Program is supported by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), an independent entity under the administrative jurisdiction of the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. India has played a pivotal role in offering educational opportunities to Afghan students over the years. Since 2005, the ICCR Scholarship program has annually granted roughly 1000 scholarships to Afghan students. Regrettably, the program was discontinued post-August 2021, hindering students from continuing their education in India. Nevertheless, the Indian government provided scholarships to some students already in India, enabling them to further their education there.
Fortunately, the scholarship program, which restarted two years ago, is currently giving 1,000 scholarships once again.The scholarship program has restarted, and India is currently providing 1000 fully funded scholarships for all degrees, including all costs.
