About the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC):

For the academic year 2023–24, foreign students may apply for a scholarship from the China Scholarship Council (CSC), an arm of the Chinese government. The application process for this scholarship to attend Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CQUPT) has opened to qualified overseas students.

In China, prospective students have the option of choosing between two government-sponsored scholarship programs, Type A and Type B. The Type-A route is open to applicants whose home countries have Chinese embassies or consulates, as well as forwarding authorities such as national or international organizations. The Type B channel is another option for them to consider. Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CQUPT) is now accepting applications directly from interested parties.

Scholarship qualification and eligibility:

  • have a valid passport from a nation other than the PRC and be physically and psychologically fit.
  • enroll in a graduate program when still a bachelor’s degree holder or less than 35 years old, and have a stellar academic record.
  • Qualifying for a Ph.D. program before turning 40 requires you to have a Master’s degree or its equivalent and to have a strong academic record.

Requirements for Language Proficiency:

  • Language requirements for English-taught programs: IELTS 6.5 or higher, TOEFL 80 or higher, or native English speakers. Applicants unable to submit the English scores above will be compelled to participate in the May English exam that CQUPT will be organizing.
  • Programs taught in Chinese need HSK 4 or above. Candidates with an HSK of 5 or above are eligible to apply for admission to the major program directly; candidates with an HSK of 4 may seek to enroll in a year of Chinese language instruction before continuing to their degree program.

How to apply:

  • Submit your application for admission as an international student using the CSC Online Application System.
  • Its agency number is 10617, and it belongs to the Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunication.
  • To apply online, choose the Type B Application Program category and fill out the form.
  • Print out a printed copy of the application form and put your signature on it once you’ve submitted it.
