The Federal Government of Brazil issued Decree No. 42/2023, suspending the humanitarian visa regime for Afghan nationals from October 1, 2023. Until the Brazilian government makes new decisions regarding the humanitarian visa program’s status and publishes new policies and relevant information on this website, the embassy will not accept any new requests.

Currently, the Brazilian government is reviewing and preparing a list of humanitarian organizations in Brazil that will be allowed to schedule new interviews for Afghan nationals, and after this list is prepared, it will be announced on this website.

The consular department is responsible for processing Afghan national visa applications according to the three groups described below and with the highest priority:

First: The initial group consisted of Afghan nationals who underwent interviews, and Brazil granted them permission to issue visas. They subsequently turned over their passports to the embassy’s consular section. We have issued and delivered most of the visas to the applicants in this group. Only a few of these requests are currently undergoing review, and we anticipate issuing their visas by 15 Ardeebshehat 1403 (4 May 2024). The consular section will soon inform these applicants to go to the embassy and receive their passports.

The second group consists of Afghan nationals who have undergone interviews and received permission from Brazil to issue their visas. We will contact these individuals via WhatsApp or mobile phone, instructing them to deliver their passports to the embassy in accordance with the appropriate schedule after April 22, 2024.

For the third group, the consular section of the embassy is diligently seeking permission from Brazil for the final issuance of visas for Afghan nationals who have undergone interviews but have not yet received their results. They will receive information via WhatsApp or mobile phone after June 16, 2024, enabling them to deliver their passports to the embassy in accordance with the appropriate schedule.
