Internship Eligibility:

  • No applicant may have a blood relative working for the UNHCR.
  • Any qualified individual, regardless of citizenship, is welcome to apply.
  • To be considered, an applicant must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at a school that has received accreditation from UNESCO.
  • You may also apply if you have just graduated.
  • All applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and have studied a field that is either directly related to the organization’s goals or has strong interests in those areas.
  • Those who have just graduated are the only ones who may apply. An applicant is considered a “fresh graduate” if they have finished their degree within the last 12 months.
  • Applicant English proficiency is required.
  • Although fluency in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, which are the UNHCR’s second languages, is not necessary, it is highly desirable.

Health Insurance:

  • Interns at UNHCR are required to have health insurance before to starting their positions and to furnish UNHCR with evidence of coverage that is good for the whole internship.
  • Neither the interns’ medical insurance premiums nor the expense of their medical evacuation will be covered by UNHCR.
  • Make sure your health insurance includes emergency medical evacuation if you are an intern working in a place with a lack of medical facilities.
